I wish to inspire others to seek the beauty beyond, to be curious, to explore, to broaden our consciousness and I seek to live a life that contributes to the happiness and freedom of all.
My vehicles in the pursuit of that goal are varied. I shoot pictures and write stories, I practice and teach yoga, I use the power of sound produced by Tibetan Singing Bowls for healing and deep relaxation. I've also always had the desire to help others and my recent travels have made this will even stronger. With a partner, we started a philanthropic crowdfunding platform to allow all - regardless of the amount donated - to participate in the realisation of a specific project.
With photography, I started by shooting landscape pictures but soon got inspired by the magnificent stories of all met along the way. I focus on capturing a moment in time, whether it's portrait, lifestyle scene, or the beauty of mother earth.
Since perhaps my teens, I had the feeling that there was 'more' to life than what I was doing...
My journey to where I am now hasn't been conventional by any mean
I grew up in a small village on the Swiss Riviera. The quality of life is very good and the scenery beautiful - imagine the majestic Alps watching over the waters of the Lac Léman (Lake Geneva).
My childhood sounds idyllic, but it actually was shaped by a mostly absent alcoholic father. Later in life, I realised that the hardship then made me into who I am now and I came to use that as a positive energy in life.
Oh that's me on the left hand side, with my two older brother
Teenage and very early 20s
School wasn’t for me. At the age of 16, I left the full time academic life to start an apprenticeship in finance. My oldest brother was already working in finance and I believe that influenced me in my decision. In the middle of the biggest financial crisis in modern history I joined a financial institution. After various jobs in Switzerland, and as a believer in capitalism, I moved to London at the age of 20 to work in the Hedge Fund and Private Equity industry.
Soon understanding that the capitalist model practiced in the western world was unsustainable, I decided to move back to Switzerland and continued working in the same financial institution but as a Business Manager and Business Strategy.
Early to mid 20s
After a couple of years in the job; the spring in my step and the excitement was soon replaced by disenchantment. Looking for other distraction - perhaps looking for what I thought was a balance between work and the rest of my life - I decided to study and pass my Crossfit Level 1 training, then started to teach a few classes a week. I had been doing Crossfit for 3 years by then.
A crazy idea trotted in my head, why not leave it all and travel the world for a year. A trip to South Africa in December 2016 and witnessing the magnificent wildlife, convinced me to go.
Last year and current days
By October 2017, I had left for a one year sabbatical. I spent five months exploring South America, traveling form the ‘Land of Fire’, over the peaks of the Andes, down to the mosquitoes infested corners of the Amazon, sailed across the Caribbean Sea and dreamed at the sight of an erupting volcano in Guatemala.
I am now back in Switzerland after spending more than five months in Asia. Whilst in the Philippines, I participated in a Sound Bath and Meditation class. The extremely powerful experience led me to Kathmandu in Nepal in order to follow a course in Sound Bowl Healing. Later on I followed a Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India.
Being back in Switzerland, I am rediscovering the beauty of this small country, amazed every day, blown away every time the sun sets in the horizon. I hope to live day by day, sustained by my various passions and pursuing my current purpose.
